Can you drive a car after CBD?

Despite the fact that the use of CBD oils is becoming more and more popular, many people still do not know exactly how this cannabidiol works on the human body and what effects its use has. It is natural that, due to a lack of knowledge and experience, fear often arises and questions arise. Particularly as discussions about cannabis in the media arouse great emotion, even among doctors or nutritionists who, due to their ignorance of the facts about the plant's bioactive compounds, attribute false characteristics to it. Some also erroneously equate CBD with THC. Wanting to carry on with their current lifestyle and fulfil their duties, would-be users wonder whether the perception of the world is the same during treatment with CBD oils, or whether perception changes in some way? How CBD oil Does it affect the nervous system? Can you carry out all your existing duties, drive machinery? Can you drive after CBD? Is it dangerous to drive after CBD?

CBD vs THC

One of the two most popular cannabidiols is actually THC and CBD. Both are derived from the cannabis plant, but THC is identified with the Indian variety, while CBD is derived from the fibre variety. Despite the similar structure of the two compounds (CBD has two phenolic groups in its structure instead of the lactone system that THC has), they have different effects in terms of psychoactivity. This is because THC acts as an agonist at cannabinoid receptors, CBD then acts as an antagonist. It is thanks to this difference that we do not observe the psychoactive effect of CBD. In contrast to THC, CBD has stimulant-reducing and sedative effects. It has research-proven therapeutic properties such as inter alia anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiepileptic, sleep-inducing, analgesic, antidepressant, antipsychotic or antiemetic effects.

Can you drive a car after CBD?

Asking yourself whether it is possible to drive after CBD, you can answer- yes, of course, if you are after your first experience with this cannabinoid. It is exclusively THC that is attributed with euphoric effects, psychomotor slowing or a state of deep relaxation, which undoubtedly affect perception and become dangerous when driving or operating machinery. When used as intended and in the appropriate doses recommended by the manufacturer, high quality CBD oils are 100% safe and not addictive. They do not interfere in any way with psychomotor abilities, unlike even some over-the-counter pharmacological drugs, and consequently you can drive after taking CBD. Importantly CBD oils are perfectly legal in Poland.

CBD and driving

Identical conclusions are also drawn from scientific studies. A 2016 study by the University of Sydney accurately states that the use of hemp products with CBD, where the amount of THC is negligible, has no effect on driving ability.Volunteers during the study ingested (via vaporisation) dried hemp of different compositions: one contained mainly THC, another only CBD, a combination of CBD and negligible amounts of THC, and fibre hemp. After being exposed to these, they went on an approximately 100-km ride under controlled conditions. The results of this study, unanimously confirm that the dry containing mainly CBD did not adversely affect driving ability. In contrast, a dry containing high amounts of THC caused mild impairment, which lasted for less than 40 minutes after exposure to the product.

Does driving after CBD is it dangerous?

While on the subject, the question still arises: is it dangerous to drive on CBD? No, it's not dangerous if you take the right doses of the oil and its composition is confirmed by research and it's not your first time with oils. By law, the THC content cannot exceed 0.2%, which is why it is so important to go for oils with a known and tested composition. It is also worth bearing in mind that you never know how your body will react to the first dose of CBD and it is therefore better to refrain from driving at that time. It is also best, in the case of less serious conditions, to start with a concentration of 10% and choose a proven oil with the full spectrum of cannabinoids, so as to benefit from the beneficial effects of all substances, not just CBD. For the sake of your own health, use a certified oil that is free of contaminants such as fungi, moulds or heavy metals. This is extremely important if you want to achieve the desired result. Therefore, it is also a good idea to use our dosage calculator to determine the optimal dose.
