Can CBD oil be bought without a prescription

CBD oil is a substance that is produced from the inflorescences of the cannabis plant (Cannabis Sativa L.). It is not a product with psychoactive effects. Unfortunately, very often this cannabis is equated with marijuana, and this is made from cannabis (Cannabis sativa indica), which contain THC, a psychoactive substance. For many, cannabis is hemp - a drug, an addictive substance, illegal, banned and they want to stay away from CBD. And this is a huge mistake. Recent years have brought a lot of research into the use of CBD oil in therapeutic and healing processes. The results are extremely promising. And while there is still a lot to be discovered, it is already clear that it is worthwhile to support the cannabinoid in the treatment of many conditions and absolutely not to stay away from it.

What is CBD and CBD oil?

When cannabidiol (or CBD) is isolated from the cannabis plant, it is then purified and later dissolved in oil, for example. This results in a preparation whose concentration can be adjusted by adding the appropriate amount of CBD to the oil. Thus, the most commonly available preparations on the market are 5, 10, 20 and 30%. By the way, it is worth mentioning that cannabidiol can be taken not only as an oil. It is also produced as a paste, tablets, sweets, tinctures, creams and added to e-cigarette liquids. It is also possible to use CBD in dried form, primarily for vaporisation.

Health-promoting properties of CBD oil

CBD oils are still a novelty in Poland, but it is hard not to notice that they are becoming increasingly popular. And although they do not have the status of a drug, patients taking them often speak of improving not only their mood but also their health. It is hard to say conclusively how effective and in which conditions cannabidiol is, as research is still ongoing. But there are more and more publications and growing evidence that CBD is a preparation with a very broad spectrum of effects.

It is already known that CBD oil has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Its benefits are used to support the treatment of epilepsy. The number of epileptic seizures in each age group decreased significantly after cannabinoid use. Studies have shown that it reduces anxiety, which is why it is used, for example, for people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. CBD oil has become a favourite of sleep disorder sufferers. Preliminary studies have shown that it improves the functioning of the REN sleep phase and keeps the body in the deep sleep phase for longer. CBD has the ability to nullify the effects of cannabis, which is why it is used for THC-induced psychosis. It also supports the treatment of alcohol, cigarette and drug addictions.

CBD oil is also used in the treatment of cancer, but not as a cure for cancer (although this property too is currently being researched). Indeed, it has been found not only to have a calming effect, improving mood and reducing anxiety and stress, but also to increase appetite, make it easier to fall asleep and improve the quality of sleep. And it also has an antiemetic effect, which significantly improves the quality of life of patients, especially those following chemotherapy.

The cannabinoid is also increasingly being administered to autistic childrenparents notice a significant improvement in their children's wellbeing. After taking the oil, the severity of many symptoms such as epilepsy attacks or aggression is reduced. Studies have shown that the oil certainly has great potential, but that it does not have a positive effect in all cases; less than 10% of the children in this particular study experienced an exacerbation of previous symptoms. Therefore, the use of cannabinoids in children should only be done under the close supervision of a specialist and it is important to bear in mind that its level of efficacy depends on the individual case.

Is it safe to use CBD oil?

CBD oils are considered safe preparations for health and life. But it is important to be aware that research into the action, efficacy and possible effects of cannabinoids is still ongoing. Those research results that are already available are often tests that have only been carried out on animals or on small groups of people. On the positive side, the information coming from scientists is very promising for people who are ill. They speak, for example, of the low harmfulness of the substance. However, this does not absolve anyone from taking CBD responsibly, especially when it comes to children or people taking a lot of medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take these preparations at all.

The most commonly described side effects are:

  • diarrhoea,
  • nausea,
  • weight fluctuations,
  • appetite problems, both stimulation and reduction of appetite,
  • lowering blood pressure.

Can the oil be purchased in Poland without a prescription?

CBD oils are legal in Poland and legal regulations differ little from those in most European countries. In our country, the production, importation and sale are regulated by both the regulations in force in the European Union and by domestic law, i.e. the Act on the Prevention of Drug Addiction of 29 July 2005 and the Information of the Chief Sanitary Inspector of 2018.

The basic condition for allowing CBD oils (and all other products containing this cannabidiol) to be sold is that it has a THC (psychoactive substance) content of no more than 0.2%.

All products containing CBD can be purchased without a prescription. So without a problem you can also buy CBD oil without a prescription and the retailer does not even have to be a pharmacy. CBD oils are also available in health food shops and herbal shops. Any CBD oil can be purchased easily and without a prescription from online shops.
