CBD in weight loss - do CBD oils help with weight loss

Let's get one thing straight to start with. Does CBD oil lose weight? No. Does CBD oil aid weight loss? Yes, yes and yes again. There is no dietary supplement that, when taken, will make us lose weight unless we simultaneously change our eating habits, reduce calories and include physical activity. There are no miracles. But if only CBD oil will make losing weight faster and easier, and this is because cannabinoids improve metabolic processes by altering fat metabolism, speeding up calorie burning, influencing appetite levels, insulin levels and hindering fat accumulation.

Metabolism relationships, the cannabinoid system and cannabidiol

It is not the case that CBD only has a supportive effect on the metabolism. The spectrum of action of CBD oil is extremely broad through its effects on the endocannabinoid system, which is found in the human body. The role of this system is to maintain balance in the body in a broad sense. Receptors for the cannabinoid system are spread throughout the body, whether under the skin or in the nervous, immune or digestive systems. Therefore, they regulate not only metabolism, but also motor condition, memory, sleep cycle or hormonal balance. And being overweight or obese upsets this balance. This is why CBD oil, by improving the functioning of the cannabinoid system, has an indirect effect on weight loss. Although, as you can see from the above, by using it to aid the weight loss process, we are supporting the body holistically and comprehensively. And why will it assist in the weight loss process? Below we will try to explain the role of CBD in weight loss.

CBD oil and appetite regulation

It is often the inability to control the appetite that leads to metabolic disorders and weight gain. Appetite is not the same as being hungry, so indulging in cravings rather than nourishing the body is often the reason for weight gain.

Cannabidiol (CBD), unlike THC, which increases the production of ghrelin (the hunger hormone), blocks the action of the CB1 receptor in stimulating appetite. In addition, it further increases the sensitivity of the hypothalamus, which is the largest cluster of receptors that process leptin, the satiety hormone.

Effects of CBD on mitochondria

Mitochondria have the power to turn fats, sugars and even proteins into energy, which the cells then use. When mitochondrial dysfunction occurs, cells are unable to process all the energy supplied with food. The body's natural defence response against the accumulation of sugars and fats in the bloodstream is the deposition of body fat.

Also, in terms of regulating the activity level of mitochondria, which are unable to regulate their activity themselves, the endocannabinoid system has to act. By acting on the cells within them, it regulates the level of mitochondrial activity. On the one hand, it has the power to inhibit overactive mitochondria; on the other, it is able to stimulate their activity. Here again, it can be seen that the most important thing is the biological balance to which the organism is constantly striving. And what if this, mitochondrial in this case, balance is not present? Then supplementing with CBD allows you to support the cannabinoid system in controlling mitochondrial function. How can this relationship be used in weight loss? Obviously, a balanced diet, exercise and CBD oil, which has the power to accelerate the rate at which we burn fat.

CBD and the conversion of white fat cells into brown fat cells

As probably not many of us know, there are two types of fat cells in the human body - white and brown. The white ones are responsible for storing and supplying energy and protecting the internal organs. Their excess causes, for example, diabetes or heart disease. In contrast, the role of brown fat is to produce heat by burning calories. A healthy person without excess weight obviously has more brown fat cells, the overweight one more white.

The transformation of white cells into brown cells occurs when the body is given a healthy sleep, when it is active, but cold weather also has this ability. And what effect can the use of CBD oil have on the transformation? Well, studies have shown that CBD works on many levels. First of all, it supports the conversion of white fat cells into brown fat cells, but it also increases the efficiency of fat metabolism. At the same time, studies have shown that cannabidiol not only supports the fight against obesity, but also has a preventive effect.

CBD and insulin regulation

If we sometimes forget that we eat to live and start living to eat, our body gets such a large dose of energy into the bloodstream that it is unable to use it up. The result is not only fat accumulation and progressive overweight, but also the accumulation of sugar and fat in the blood, which becomes dangerous on the body. According to research, high levels of sugar and glycerides are associated with the development of serious diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and fatty liver, which in an attempt to prevent these conditions begins to store fat, resulting in overweight and later obesity.

But this is not the end of the story. As a result of the intake of sugar-rich (glucose) foods, even generally healthy people can eventually develop insulin resistance, while in obese people this is unfortunately quite common.

And where does insulin come from and what is it? Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas. Its function is to carry sugar into the cells so that it can be converted into energy. If the level of insulin in the blood is too high, then it increases the absorption of fatty acids, promotes lipid synthesis and stops the breakdown of fats. The consequences are that the body cannot cope with burning fat, leading to fat storage.

And this is where you can try once again to entrust the mission to CBD oil. This mission, is to stabilise insulin levels, which will make it easier to restore the body's metabolism and lose excess weight. This is because CBD has the property of reducing and lowering blood insulin levels.

So does CBD oil slim down? As you can see, no. But it does have a huge effect on the metabolism, so it will certainly assist anyone wishing to lose weight by following a rational diet and ensuring regular exercise. In the fight against excess weight, it is best to support yourself with oil, with the so-called 'full spectrum'. This is because it means that the product in question has been extracted from the whole plant, which results in it containing all possible beneficial compounds that are present in it. That is, in addition to CBD itself, trace amounts of THC (which is a compound that enhances the effects of CBD in small amounts), as well as flavonoids and terpenes. All this not only enriches the CBD oil itself, but makes its effects stronger and more effective.
