Multiple sclerosis<\/b> (sclerosis multiplex, MS) is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system in which there is multifocal damage (demyelination and disintegration of axons) to the nervous tissue<\/b>. The disease progresses in leaps and bounds, there are periods of remission followed by an exacerbation of the symptoms of the disease. How does this relate to cannabidiol? Well, scientists doing a whole lot of research on it have discovered that one of the properties of CBD is its ability for neuroprotection (neuroregeneration), so research has gone in this direction too. And their results are really promising. Will the proper use of CBD oils help multiple sclerosis patients? There is hope. <\/span><\/p>\n

What is MS<\/b><\/font><\/span>

Multiple sclerosis belongs to this group of autoimmune diseases<\/b>whose etymology is still not known. And although it affects dozens of men and women every year, no cure has yet been found. MS is still a mystery, even though it was discovered a long time ago, in 1868, by Jean-Martin Charcot, a neurologist from France. He gave his name to the classic symptoms of MS, namely tremor, nystagmus and speech disorders (so-called scrambled speech). In fact, these disorders are called Charcot's triad. And unfortunately, to this day, although both the diagnosis and the therapy used have changed dramatically, science has not found a clear answer as to where multiple sclerosis comes from.<\/span><\/div>\n

But although it is not known what causes MS, the mechanism of the disease itself is already recognised precisely. What is known is that it is a process of pathological changes, consisting of the formation of demyelinating foci that are more or less diffuse in the cells of the nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Autoimmunity occurs, where the immune system attacks and destroys the myelin sheaths of its own neurons.<\/b> The result is that the normal function of the nervous system is impaired. <\/span>

Theories about the causes of MS abound. However, scientists point to certain risk factors that favour the disease. These include infection with retroviruses, long-term stress, genetic mutations that are congenital or hereditary, or heavy smoking and drinking alcohol.<\/span><\/div>\n
