This condition persists because the brain chemistry changes when strong emotions are experienced, as stress hormones and adrenaline react in a very violent, excessive way.<\/p>\n

The National Institute of Mental Health in the United States lists the following as symptoms of PTDS: getting as far away as possible from the traumatic experience and everything associated with it, feelings of guilt, feelings of numbness, constant tension, loss of interest in old passions, night terrors and sleep disturbances as well as outbursts of anger and aggression.<\/p>\n\n

Post-traumatic stress disorder is currently treated using, among other things, pharmacological measures (antidepressants) in combination with psychotherapy. These drugs, apart from helping, also have a number of side effects. Therefore, alternative, safe and effective methods of alleviating the effects of PTDS are being sought. The results of studies conducted by various research institutes in the USA show that administering cannabinoids (CBD) to patients improves their functioning.
